What is the function of the clutch switch?
The clutch switch is a starter safety (clutch safety) switch. It prevents the motorcycle from being started unless the clutch lever is pulled — unless the gearbox is in neutral. This safety mechanism helps prevent the bike from lurching forward if a gear is engaged.

Why should the clutch switch be replaced?
a) Engine will not start
Typical effects of a faulty switch include:
pressing the starter button does nothing; the headlight often turns off.

Starting is only possible by manipulation — by actuating or resetting the switch (e.g., pulling the clutch lever or bridging the contacts), the engine can be started.

b) Missing functionality despite correct clutch operation.
A stuck or internally defective switch may no longer detect that the clutch is pulled,
